« CHINESE Ancient Porcelain: Production Center and its Global Trade »
China is the origin of Ancient porcelain word-wide, and its porcelain production not only satisfied the requirement of Ancient China residents, but was also shipped to other country for trade. In the lecture, Dr. Zhu will first present several important porcelain production centers. He will then discuss some of his ongoing projects on Chinese exported porcelain, including the products exported from the Guangzhou Xicun kiln of China Song Dynasty, the preservation of the porcelain from the Hanhai shipwreck, and the provenience study of the ancient porcelain collection from the Kenya National Museum in Mombassa, East Africa. The lecture will highlight similarities and differences between Chinese porcelain production centers as well as the array of methods involved in this research.
